About Me
My name is Macarena (Maky) San Martin. I will be graduating in May 2009 with a Bachelors of Arts in Mass Communications. Through my college career, I have concentrated in Magazines and have minored in Women Studies. I am originally from Miami and moved to the Tampa Bay area to attend the University of South Florida. Upon completion of my minor, I transferred to the St. Petersburg campus to continue my studies in the Department of Journalism and Media Studies.
I have been writing for most of my life, mostly creatively. At a young age, I knew one day I would be a journalist. I worked on the school newspaper for my elementary school, Charles R. Hadley Elementary in Miami, while in the fifth grade. Along with constantly writing, I have enveloped my life in books and find reading incredibly gratifying. I became interested in women’s issues my freshman year of college at Miami Dade College. I had a history professor who incorporated women’s rights issues in the curriculum. I became so interested in the stories women throughout history had to tell that I decided to minor in it.
I will be moving back to Miami as soon as I complete my education and hope to start my career in the fast paced, culturally enriched environment that is Miami.
